Photofocus (old site)

Editor’s Note: Each weekend we take a look at a photographer of influence who’s helped shape our industry.

Linda McCartney lead a diverse professional career as a musician, photographer, animal rights activist, and entrepreneur.  She started working as a receptionist for Town & Country magazine, where she found herself often taking pictures as a photographer. She eventually became the house photographer at the Fillmore East concert hall.

Her love of music led her to both her husband Paul McCartney and to photograph such artists as Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, The Doors, The Animals, John Lennon and Neil Young. She became the first woman to have a cover photograph on Rolling Stone Magazine. Be sure to explore her work.
